Showers or thundershowers expected in two provinces

Several spells of showers will occur in Western, North-western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces, says the Department of Meteorology.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Eastern and Uva provinces after 2.00 pm.

Wind speed can increase up to (40-50) kmph at times over the island, particularly in western slopes of the Central hills and Northern, North-central, North-western provinces and in Hambantota district.


Sea areas:

Showers will occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.

Winds will be Westerly to South-westerly in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle and winds will be South-westerly in the other sea areas around the island.

Wind speed will be (35-45) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to (60) kmph at times in the deep and shallow sea areas extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, Matara and Hambantota.

The deep and shallow sea area extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, Matara and Hambantota can be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island can be fairly rough at times.

Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
