COVID-19 recoveries count hits 1,602 as 40 more regain health

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that 40 more patients, who previously tested positive for the COVID-19, have recovered from the disease as of 10.00 am today (25).

The latest recoveries were reported from the Welikanda Base Hospital (01), Kattankudy Base Hospital (09), Homagama Base Hospital (01), Minuwangoda Base Hospital (15), Hambantota District General Hospital (07) and Theldeniya Base Hospital (07), according to the situation report issued by the Epidemiology Unit.

This brings Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 recoveries count to 1,602.

The total number of COVID-19 cases identified in the country crossed the grim milestone of 2,000 on Wednesday (24) with 10 fresh cases among the returnees from the United States and naval personnel.

Accordingly, Sri Lanka’s novel coronavirus cases tally now sits at 2,001.

The Epidemiology Unit says 388 patients infected with COVID-19 are currently under medical care at 11 hospitals across the country.

Meanwhile, 11 coronavirus-positive patients have succumbed to the disease in Sri Lanka.
