Met. Dept. issues heavy rain advisory for parts of the island

The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for heavy rainfall in four provinces and two districts.

The prevailing showery condition in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts is expected to continue during the next 24 hours.

Heavy rainfall of about 100mm is likely at some places, the Meteorology Department said further.

During the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am this morning (26), Deraniyagala in Kegalle District had recorded the highest rainfall in the island, which stood at 107mm.

Kiriella area of Ratnapura District and Halwatura area of Kalutara District also recorded over 100mm rainfall during this period.
