Committee on irregularities in finance & leasing businesses receives over 60 complaints

Committee appointed to inquire into illegal activities of finance leasing businesses and unauthorized finance bodies has concluded accepting public proposals, recommendations, and complaints, today (30).
Committee appointed by Central Bank Governor Deshamanya Prof. W.D. Lakshman commenced accepting public proposals, recommendations, and complaints regarding the subject on June 23.
The three-member committee is chaired by Director General of Legal Affairs of the Presidential Secretariat, Attorney-at-Law Harigupta Rohanadeera.
Currently, the committee has received over 60 complaints on the subject.
Reportedly, the majority of the complaints received by the Committee have been regarding interest rate irregularities and illegal leasing and finance companies.
The report prepared by the relevant committee is due to be handed over to the Governor of the Central Bank tomorrow (01).
