Divisional secretariat officials arrested while transporting ‘ice’

Two officials from the Kelaniya and Kolonnawa district secretariats have been arrested while transporting 250 grams of crystal methamphetamine, also known as ‘ice’.

 

Police said that the car, in which suspects were transporting the drugs, has also been taken into custody.

 

The arrests were made in the Pattiya Junction area in Peliyagoda.

 

They were apprehended during an operation carried out by a team of officers attached to the Peliyagoda division investigative unit this afternoon.

 

The arrested suspects, aged 36 and 41, are residents of Kelaniya and Wellampitiya.

 

They are to be produced before court today while Peliyagoda Police are conducting further investigations.
