A 48-year-old individual, gunned down in Ambalangoda, has succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the hospital.
The police said an unidentified gunman who arrived on a motorcycle had opened fire at the victim.
The incident took place at the Parrot Junction in Ambalangoda along the Colombo-Galle main road at around 9.00 am today (22).
Reports revealed that the victim had been on his way towards Galle from the Fisheries Harbour in Ambalangoda at the time of the incident.
The victim succumbed to injuries while being admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital.
He was identified as Bennet Ajith alias “Booru Ajith”, a 48-year-old resident of Kuleegoda area in Ambalangoda. The Police said he was a gambler in the area.
Police investigating teams have been appointed to apprehend the suspect.
