Two accomplices of ‘Manna Ramesh’ arrested with firearms

Two accomplices of underworld figure ‘Manna Ramesh’ have been arrested at Yalagam Junction in Avissawella.

The arrest was made by the Police Special Task Force (STF) acting on a tip-off received by its organized crime prevention unit.

According to reports, 02 firearms, 91 rounds of live ammunition, 27 training bullets, a magazine and a pair of handcuffs were seized in possession of the suspects.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had been engaged in extortions, drug trafficking and other criminal activities in Avissawella, Thalduwa, Nuriwatta areas.

The arrestees, who were handed over to the Avissawella Police for further investigations, will e produced before the magistrate’s court today (24).
