The Department of Meteorology today (10) issued a high-risk alert for strong gusty winds across the island.

 

Accordingly, gusts of winds of about (50-60) kmph are expected in the Northern, North-central, Southern, North-western provinces and Trincomalee district as well as in the western slopes of the central hills.

 

The Meteorology Department meanwhile stated that the showery condition over the island can enhance temporarily during next few days from tonight, particularly over the South-western parts, due to fairly active south-west monsoon.
