Covid-19 cases confirmed in Sri Lanka sweep past 5,000 mark

Total number of positive Covid-19 cases confirmed in Sri Lanka has soared past the grim milestone of 5,000 today (13).

 

Earlier in the evening, 145 persons tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Reports revealed that all these positive cases were from the Minuwangoda cluster. In addition, 49 more from the same cluster also tested positive this afternoon.

 

The Department of Government Information said the cluster has thus far confirmed 1,591 infections in total.

 

Following these developments, Sri Lanka’s confirmed novel coronavirus cases count now stands at 5,038.

 

The Ministry of Health says 1,697 active cases are currently receiving treatment at several hospitals across the country.

 

Meanwhile, total recoveries reported in the island increased to 3,328 this morning.
