Another Covid-19 infected individual in Sri Lanka has died of the virus today (24), health authorities confirmed.

This brings the total number of novel coronavirus deaths registered in the country to 15.

The deceased, a 56-year-old male from Unaleeya, Kuliyapitiya, was receiving treatment at the Kuliyapitiya Hospital.

Its Director, Dr. Prabhath Werawatte said the patient was admitted to the hospital on the 14th of October to be treated for a heart disease.

He was then moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital as his condition took a critical turn two days later and he had since been under medical care at the ICU until he passed away this morning.
