Tourists asked not to visit Nuwara-Eliya due to coronavirus exposure

The members of the public are requested to refrain to from visiting the vacation spot in the central highlands, Nuwara-Eliya as Covid-19 infections continue to surge in the area, says Nuwara-Eliya District Secretary M.B.R. Pushpakumara.

In a press release issued today (29), he said all tourist attractions in the district have been closed with immediate effect.

Nearly 30 positive cases of Covid-19 have been detected within the Nuwara-Eliya district, he said adding that close contacts of these patients have been referred to PCR tests.

A spike in the novel coronavirus cases numbers in Nuwara-Eliya district is expected, Mr. Pushpakumara warned.
