Food packages worth Rs 10,000 to quarantined families

It has been decided to provide Rs 10,000 worth of groceries to families under quarantine, as per the instruction of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

This relief will be provided as two packages of fruit and dried food items worth Rs 5000 on two separate occasions, stated the Department of Government Information.

These food packages have been prepared to last for 14 days and are distributed with the intervention of the District Secretary or the Government Agent (Disapathi).

Measures have been taken to distribute these food parcels to 6,025 quarantined families in 13 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Colombo District.

Reportedly, this program is already being implemented in Homagama, Dehiwala, Moratuwa, and Kaduwela Divisional Secretariats.

The food packages will be distributed to 6,807 quarantined families in 13 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Gampaha District and to 2,245 quarantined families in 14 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Kalutara District.

Arrangements have been made to distribute these food bags to 1,248 families in the Kegalle District.

In addition, it has been informed to continue to provide food packages to new families joining the quarantine process by obtaining the relevant information from the Divisional Secretariat.
