Afternoon showers possible in several areas

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Uva, Eastern and North-Central provinces and in Hambantota, Mullaitivu, and Vavuniya districts after 2.00 pm today (November 01), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Fairly heavy falls of above 50 mm can be expected at some places, particularly in Uva province and in Trincomalee, and Ampara districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
SEA AREAS
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Trincomalee to Pottuvil via Batticaloa in the evening or night.
Winds will be North-westerly to westerly in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle. Winds will be variable in direction over the other sea areas around the island. The wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
The sea areas around the island are slight to moderate.
