Fairly heavy rainfall expected in some areas

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Uva, Eastern and North-Central provinces and in Hambantota, Mullaitivu and Vavuniya districts after 2.00 pm, the Department of Meteorology said.
Fairly heavy rainfall above 50 mm can be expected at some places, particularly in Uva province and in Trincomalee and Ampara districts.
The public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea areas:
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Trincomalee to Pottuvil via Batticaloa in the evening or night.
Winds will be North-westerly to westerly in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be variable in direction over the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be (20-30) kmph.
The sea areas around the island is slight to moderate.
