The Department of Government Information confirms that 213 more persons linked to the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster were tested positive for Covid-19 today (05).
Reports revealed that all of them are close contacts of earlier positive cases.
Thereby, the total number of Covid-19 infections registered by the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster reached 8,922.
With the new development, Sri Lanka has confirmed 12,400 novel coronavirus infections to date.
According to Health Ministry’s data, 6,623 of the confirmed patients have made complete recoveries from the virus.
The Epidemiology Unit says 5,753 active cases are still receiving medical treatment at selected hospitals across the island.
Meanwhile, total deaths from Covid-19 increased to 29 earlier today as five more virus-infected persons fell victim to the virus.
