Covid-19: Colombo District leads daily count with 189 cases found yesterday

Sri Lanka’s Covid-19 infections count soared yet again on Monday (23) as 337 persons were tested positive for the virus.

 

Colombo District led the daily count with 189 new positive cases while Gampaha District followed with 47.

 

Department of Government Information said 335 of infections detected on Monday are close contacts of earlier cases linked to the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster, the largest-ever to emerge in the country.

 

The remaining two are reportedly arrivals from India and Turkey.

 

Thereby, the total number of Covid-19 cases confirmed in Sri Lanka since March has risen to 20,508. The Epidemiology Unit data showed that 5,921 of them are still under medical care while 14,497 made complete recoveries.

 

The country has also witnessed 90 coronavirus related deaths so far.
