
Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe today left the country for Genevato give explanations regarding the comment made by Rtd. Gen. Sarath Fonseka, Human Rights ministry told Ada Derana.
He had left for the United Nations Human Rights Council in Switzerlandaccompanied by Attorney General Mohan Peiris. Their visit is to provide explanations regarding two comments made by Sarath Fonseka during the recently concluded Presidential poll campaigning.
The comment that LTTE leaders attempted to surrender waving white flags during the last stages of the war which he retracted later and the allegation that the Presidential poll was rigged had received international attention thus the need arose for an explanation, the ministry added.
