Three new Covid-19 deaths in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has witnessed three new Covid-19 related deaths today (February 19), Director-General of Health Services confirmed.

 

Thereby, the country’s death toll from the virus has climbed to 433.

 

One of them is an 83-year-old male from Matale. He was transferred from Matale General Hospital to Theldeniya Base Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19. He passed yesterday (February 18) due to Covid-19 pneumonia.

 

The second victim is a 73-year-old male from Kalagedihena area. He was moved to Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) after being diagnosed with novel coronavirus at the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital. He was suffering from Covid-19 pneumonia and bacterial infection at the time of his passing today.

 

A 63-year-old male from Nugegoda area died yesterday (February 18) while receiving treatment at the IDH. He was previously under medical care at a private hospital in Colombo when he tested positive for the virus. The cause of death was recorded as Covid-19 pneumonia, acute kidney damages, kidney disease, high blood pressure and acute diabetes.
