Openers Aaron Finch and Michael Klinger cracked half-centuries as Australia set Sri Lanka 188 runs to win Wednesday night’s Twenty20 game in Adelaide.
Finch (53 from 32 balls) cashed in a Sri Lankan slip - he was dropped on zero when Dilshan Munaweera turfed a simple catching chance from the fifth ball of the innings.
And Klinger (62 from 43 deliveries) was the mainstay as Australia seek to stop the tourists from securing a 3-0 series whitewash.
Ben Dunk (28 from 21 balls) and Travis Head (30 from 16) also produced valuable cameos as Australia posted 6-187 from their 20 overs.
Captain Finch and Klinger put on 79 runs for the first wicket, a stand ended when the skipper was caught on the deep mid-off boundary in the ninth over.
Klinger and Dunk then added 49 runs to lay a solid platform for a late flurry.
Klinger registered his half-century from 36 balls and accelerated with Head, the pair belting 51 runs from four overs.
But Sri Lanka escaped much further damage beyond that, taking 4-8 off the final 11 deliveries.
Australia summoned legspinner Adam Zampa to replace paceman Andrew Tye in the sole change from the side that was defeated in Geelong last Sunday.
