Seven arrested for attending a party violating quarantine laws

Seven individuals have been arrested in Rajagiriya for holding a party in violation of the quarantine regulations.

 

The party had commenced at around 8.00 pm last night (May 15) and had been going on when the officers of the Western Province South Crime Division arrived at the premises at around 11.00 am this morning (May 16), according to the Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana.

 

Accordingly, 05 men and 02 women have been arrested over offenses under the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance.

 

One of the arrestees is identified as the manager of the guest house where the party was held.

 

Meanwhile, 5 grams of Ice (Methamphetamine) has been found in the possession of a suspect from Ampitiya, Kandy.

In addition, one of the suspects arrested at the party had also been issued arrest warrants by Colombo Magistrate’s Court, DIG Ajith Rohana.

 

All suspects are to be produced before the Magistrate today and further investigations are underway, Police Spokesman said.
