A petition moving court to nullify the suspension of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) controlled Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) by the Chief Minister of the Southern Provincial Council has been filed with the Court of Appeal this morning (March 9).

 

Filing the petition Tissamaharama PS chairman H.L. Jayasiri names the Southern Chief Minister, Provincial Commissioner and others as respondents. He further states that the Southern Province Chief Minister had removed him from the office of chairman claiming fraud and irregularities in the PS. The petition states that such a decision had been taken even without a fair probe being carried out regarding the accusations.

 

Mr. Jayasiri requests court to nullify the decision to appoint a commission by the Provincial Commissioner to investigate the allegations.
