Sri Lanka faced a rampant Usman Shinwari on Monday as they were able to score only 103 runs in Sharjah in the fifth ODI.
Pakistan, missing Mohammad Amir as their first-choice new-ball bowler, were helped by Shinwari, who dismissed the first-five Sri Lanka batsmen in his initial spell of five over.
He went for only 24 runs.
After the damage was done, Sri Lanka never looked like coming back in the match with Thisara Perera the only batsman to show some resilience with 25 runs courtesy three boundaries and a six.
Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan bagged two wickets apiece for Pakistan later.
Pakistan need only 104 runs to whitewash Sri Lanka.
If that happens, it will be the Islanders’ third consecutive ODI series whitewash.
