The Colombo North Crimes Division on Monday (June 28) arrested a 27-year-old who was in possession of 1.07kg of heroin, says DIG Ajith Rohana.
Reportedly, the youth in question was taken into custody in the area of Mattakkuliya.
The vehicle driven by the suspect and alleged drug money valued at Rs. 289,000 were also seized by the law enforcement officers, the police spokesman stated further.
In other developments, two individuals were arrested in drug busts carried out by the Mount Lavinia and Grandpass crimes divisions.
One of them, identified as a 25-year-old, was taken into custody along with 50g of heroin. The second suspect, a 54-year-old, had been in possession of 18g of heroin.
According to the police spokesman, the total value of the narcotic hauls seized yesterday is approximately Rs. 12 million.
In the meantime, during a special raid carried out in Poruwadanda area in Horana, the Police Special Task Force has arrested an individual along with 1,100 LSD stamps.
He has been handed over to Horana Police for further investigations, DIG Rohana added.
