Colombo-Batticaloa bus seized for violating interprovincial travel ban

A private passenger bus arriving in Colombo from Batticaloa has been taken into custody for violating the interprovincial travel restrictions.

In addition, a total of 38 individuals including the bus driver, conductor and passengers were also apprehended by the police.

According to reports, the bus was taken into custody in the area of Grandpass.

Legal actions are expected to be initiated against the arrestees soon.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested 403 people on Wednesday (June 30) for violating quarantine regulations. Reportedly, 62 of the arrests were made in Kandy, 35 in Matale and 40 in Kuliyapitiya.

This brings the total number of quarantine regulation violations-related arrests made so far to 45,935.
