Prices of liquor increased

March 15, 2022   05:09 pm

The Excise Department says permission was granted to the licensed liquor manufactuers to increase the prices of the products with effect from today.

Speaking on the matter, Excise Commissioner Kapila Kumarasinghe said the hike in cost of production contributed to this price revision.

As there is no price control on liquor, manufacturers are allowed to increase the prices at their discretion, he explained.

However, the companies are required to inform the Excise Department of the revised rates.
