Two people, who were travelling in a van, were killed in a shooting incident at the Katubedda Junction in Moratuwa today.

The incident took place near the walking path along the Bandaranaike Mawatha in Katubedda.

The deceased were identified as residents of Panadura area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that two people who came on a motorcycle had opened fire at the two victims.

According to the police, the accomplices of drug kingpin “Kudu Salindu” who operates his syndicate from a foreign country are involved in this shooting incident.

Moratuwa Police and Mount Lavinia crimes investigation unit are conducting joint investigations into the double murder.

Approximately 10 people were gunned down and killed in separate shooting incidents reported in the country over the past few weeks.

According to the police, rivalry unfolding among drug dealers is suspected to be a reason for these murders.
