At least 11 injured in collision on Southern Expressway

A motor accident is reported on the Southern Expressway between the Baddegama and Kurundugahahetekma interchanges.

The accident took place as a bus transporting a group of people, who were going on a trip, rear-ended a lorry travelling towards Matara.

According to reports, 11 people who sustained injuries in the accident, have been hospitalized and one of them is in critical condition.

Owing to the situation, the police have advised the heavy vehicles heading to Matara to exit the expressway at Kurundugahahetekma interchange and re-enter from Baddegama interchange.

The police said it is taking necessary efforts to minimize the traffic congestion caused by the accident.
