The 32-year-old who was shot at in Peliyagoda this morning (Jan 17) has succumbed to injuries, hospital sources told Ada Derana.
Two gunmen who arrived on a motorcycle had opened fire inside a house in Kalu Palama area of Peliyagoda at around 6.30 a.m. today.
The shooting victim, who was fatally wounded, was rushed to the National Hospital in Colombo where he was pronounced dead several hours later.
According to the police, the deceased, identified as Sajith Ranga, was an accused in several ongoing murder cases and had only recently been released from remand custody.
Meanwhile, a CCTV camera has captured the two gunmen arriving at the victim’s house and fleeing after the shooting.
Peliyagoda Police are conducting further investigations into the matter to apprehend the perpetrators.
