President appoints new Secretary-General of Parliament

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed Mrs. Kushani Rohanadheera, the current Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary-General of Parliament, to the position of Parliamentary Secretary-General with effect from May 23, 2023.
The appointment has been made with the approval of the Constitutional Council, the President’s Media Division (PMD) reported.
She will succeed Mr. Dhammika Dasanayake, who has been serving in the position since February 2012.
Attorney-at-Law Mrs. K. A. Rohanadheera had been appointed as the Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary General of the Parliament of Sri Lanka in December 2020.
Prior to that, she had served as the Assistant Secretary General (Administrative Services) of Parliament since 2012. She joined the Parliamentary Service in 1999 as a Parliamentary Officer.
A distinguished alumnus of Dharmasoka Vidyalaya, Ambalangoda, Mrs. Rohanadheera graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colombo. She later graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the Open University of Sri Lanka, passing the Law College Examination being sworn in as an attorney-at-law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
