At least 13 injured in collision involving two buses

At least 13 people have sustained injuries after two privately-owned buses collided in Kamburadeniya, Danowita this evening (Aug. 26) on the Colombo-Kandy main road.

 

The injured are being treated at the Warakapola Hospital and of them are reportedly in critical condition.

 

According to the police, a bus traveling from Vavuniya to Colombo and another that had been en route from Kandy to Colombo were involved in the tragic collision.

 

The Vavuniya-Colombo bus has rear-ended the Kandy-Colombo bus when it stopped at a bus halt.

 

Among the injured are 10 men including the driver of the Vavuniya-Colombo bus and three women.

 

Danowita Police is probing the incident further.
