Tense situation reported during parliamentary session

Parliament was adjourned for a period of 10 minutes after a heated situation arose within the House this morning (06 Oct.).

The heated situation had arisen following a question raised inside the House concerning the percentages paid towards the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF).

The relevant question had been raised by Member of Parliament Gevindu Kumaratunga, to which the ruling party had responded with a request for more time for the matter to be deliberated
