12 senior police officers including DIGs receive transfers

Sri Lanka Police has given transfers to 12 senior officers including 08 Deputy Inspector-Generals of Police (DIGs).

In a press release, the Police Media Division said the transfers came into effect from Monday (Oct. 09), as per a decision made by the National Police Commission.

Three Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) have been promoted to the post of DIG. Accordingly, SSP Gayanga Marapana of Colombo South Division, SSP Sujith Wedamulla of Badulla Division and SSP Samantha Wijesekera of Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) have been elevated to the post of DIG effective from September 27.

Following the transfers, SSP Marapana will now serve as the DIG of Western Province (South) Division, and SSP Wijesekera as DIG of Wanni Division and SSP Wedamulla as DIG of Naval and Tourist Division.

Additionally, DIG G.M.H.B. Siriwardhana, DIG K. Kadupitiya, Acting DIG H. Samudrajeeva, Acting DIG P. Ampawila, Acting DIG D.G.S. de Silva, SSP I.W.G.R. Kandewatta, SSP H.D.N. Abeywardena, SP M.M. Kumaratunga and SP U.G. Seneviratne also received transfers.
