T-56 firearm missing from Karandeniya army camp found in house

A T-56 firearm reported missing from the army camp in Karandeniya has been recovered from a house in Batapola.

The police said a soldier attached to the Karadeniya army camp was placed under arrest in connection with the incident.

Both the army and the police had initiated investigations after a T-56 firearm and several magazines had gone missing from the camp.

Meanwhile, reports revealed that the firearms stolen from the armoury of the Karandeniya army camp had been used to commit several murders reported in the Southern Province recently.
