Former IGP Victor Perera passes away

The former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Victor Perera has passed away at the age of 75.

He had passed away this afternoon (16), while receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital, according to family sources.

Perera, was promoted to the position of 30th Inspector General of Police on 12 October 2006 and retired from service on 03 June 2008.

Victor Perera also served as the first Governor of Northern Province, while he was the first former police chief to have been appointed as a Provincial Governor.
