New acting director and deputy director appointed to Medical Supplies Division

Dr. Dedunu Dias has been appointed as the Acting Director of the Medical Supplies Division of the Ministry of Health, while Dr. Sudath Darmaratne has been appointed as the Acting Deputy Director, the Ministry of Health announced.
The Director and the Deputy Director of the Health Ministry’s Medical Supplies Division, and two other high-ranking officials of the division were recently arrested and remanded over the alleged incident of importing a batch of substandard Immunoglobulin vials by forging documents.
Meanwhile on Friday (24), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had submitted a report pertaining to the investigations into the alleged incident to the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court.
Against this backdrop, the CID also recorded statements from three officials of the Ministry of Finance including Finance Secretary Mahinda Siriwardana regarding the matter November 28, as per the permission obtained from the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court.
