New leader to be appointed for TNA and ITAK?

Political sources have revealed that the next party leader of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK), will also be named the leader of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA).

The decision comes against a backdrop where both, TNA leader R. Sampanthan and ITAK leader Mavai Senathirajah are set to retire from politics next year.

Sources claimed, however, that the triangular contest for the ITAK leadership amongst M. A. Sumanthiran, S. Sritharan and S. Yogeswaran, has given rise to a rather chaotic situation.

A new ITAK party leader is slated to be announced in January 2024, at a party meeting due to take place in Vavuniya.
