The Deputy Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Imran Khwaja arrived in Sri Lanka on Wednesday (10 May), and met with officials of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
Khwaja serves as a member of the 3-member committee appointed by the ICC to look into the political interference in administering the game of cricket in Sri Lanka, and thus, his visit has been termed a ‘Fact Finding Mission’ in this regard.
As part of this visit, Khwaja held discussions with SLC President Shammi Silva, and the Executive Committee of the SLC yesterday.
During discussions with the SLC, Khwaja inquired about issues faced by SLC owing to political interferences and the impact it has on administering the game.
In a letter addressed to the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs on 08 May, the SLC had informed him of Khwaja’s visit to Sri Lanka and his intention to meet the relevant Minister.
