British national arrested with firearm and ammunition at BIA

A British national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while in possession of several illegal weapons and ammunition.
Accordingly, the BIA Police reportedly detained the individual for possessing a revolver, a ‘Rambo’ knife, 10 bullets, and 5 blanks.
The arrest occurred during the screening of the 54-year-old Parker Robert Michael’s luggage as he was preparing to board a flight bound for England. Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed that the revolver, categorized as an artifact, had been a gift from his grandmother.
Immediate measures were then taken to send the confiscated goods to the Government Analyst, while the suspect is due to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court.
