Train schedule of Coastal Line revised

Sri Lanka Railways has taken steps to revise the train schedule of the Coastal Railway Line with effect from today (Jan. 01).

Accordingly, the ‘Ruhunu Kumari’ express train plying from Matara to Colombo Fort and Maradana has started its operations from Beliatta Railway Station at 05.25 a.m. this morning.

The express train ‘Sagarika’ which operates only on weekdays from Beliatta to Colombo Fort and Maradana will operate on Saturdays as well, as per the Department of Railways.

Meanwhile, the destination of the train which operates from Maradana Railway Station towards Payagala-South at 08.35 p.m. has been extended up to Aluthgama from today.

In addition, the train plying from Maradana to Aluthgama at 02.00 p.m. will leave Maradana Railway Station at 01.55 p.m. from today.

However, the Deputy General Manager of Railways N.J. Indipolage emphasized that a final decision will be taken as to whether this new train schedule is to be continued or not following a trial period of 02 weeks.
