Several new appointments and transfers made in Prisons Dept.

The Department of Prisons has given new scopes of work for the Commissioners of the department.

Accordingly, Ajith Basnayake, who was serving as the Prisons Commissioner of Industries, has been appointed as the Prisons Commissioner of Administration, while Gamini B. Dissanayake who was the Prisons Commissioner of Rehabilitation was appointed as the Prisons Commissioner of Operations, Intelligence and Security.

In addition, the scope of work of several Prison Superintendents has also been changed, as per the Department of Prisons.

Meanwhile, 14 Prison Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents have received transfers, while 11 new Assistant Prison Superintendents (Covering up Duties) have received new appointments with transfers.

The department mentioned that 20 Chief Jailors were also given transfers.
