
A 44-year-old resident of Panadura has been arrested in connection with a foreign employment scam, after he allegedly cheated a person of over Rs. 1.6 million after promising that individual employment in Japan.
The suspect was arrested after a probe was launched into a complaint received by the Kuliyapitiya Special Crimes Investigation Unit in this regard.
According to Police, the suspect had defrauded a person of Rs. 1,619,000, promising him employment in Japan.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Kuliyapitiya Police.
