A total of 955 suspects have been arrested during a 24-hour anti-drug operation carried out across the island and ending at 12.30 a.m. today (08).
The Ministry of Public Security said 435 grams of heroin, 261 grams of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) and 1,403 narcotic pills were taken into custody during that period.
Meanwhile, 31 drug addicted individuals who were among the arrested suspects have been sent for rehabilitation while detention orders were secured against 39 suspects in order to carry out further investigations.
Furthermore, 51 suspects who were on the list of registered suspects of the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Police Special Task Force have been arrested during the special police operation.
The drugs impounded during the special island-wide operations during the period include:
- 435g of heroin
- 261g of methamphetamine (‘Ice’)
- 02kg 946g of Cannabis
- 58,234 Cannabis plants
- 12 Cannabis cigarettes
- 3kg 903g of ‘Mawa’
- 448g of ‘Thul’
- 1,403 narcotic pills
- 118g of HASH
