Chinese couple arrested with gemstones worth Rs. 50 mln

A Chinese couple attempting to leave Sri Lanka with 175 gemstones valued at around Rs. 50 million in their possession and without paying the relevant taxes has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The arrested suspects are to be handed over to Sri Lanka Customs for further action, police said.
