The vehicular movement on the Ampara - Siyambaladuwa main road has been restricted from the Galmaduwa area due to flooding.

Meanwhile, the Ampara - Iginiyagala main road also remains temporarily closed from the Suduwella area, owing to the prevailing flood situation, Ada Derana reporter said.

In the meantime, several faculties of the South-Eastern University of Sri Lanka in Oluvil were temporarily closed as a result of the extreme weather conditions.

The decision was taken after the Department of Irrigation announced that the capacity of the Senanayaka Samudraya has reached its peak as at 04:00 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 10).
