
Showery conditions in the North-central, Uva and Eastern provinces are expected to subside starting today, the Department of Meteorology says.
Several spells of light showers will occur in Eastern and Uva provinces.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Mainly fair weather will prevail in the other areas of the island.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea areas:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Pottuvil to Colombo via Hambantota and Galle.
Winds will be north-easterly and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph.
Wind speed may increase up to 50-60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Colombo to Kankesanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Colombo to Kankesanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar can be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island can be moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
