Passenger bus catches fire on Southern Expressway

A passenger transport bus has caught fire near the Beliatta interchange on the Southern Expressway this evening (15), the police said.

Police stated that the bus had been completely destroyed due to the fire, and that no passengers were injured in the incident.

The passenger bus was believed to be travelling from Badulla to Colombo, the Expressway Police said.

The cause of the fire has not been ascertained as of yet, while further investigations are being carried out by the Expressway Police in Angunukolapelessa.
