
Three individuals who were in the possession of cannabis worth over Rs. 60 million have been arrested at the Yala forest reserve.
The Sri Lanka Army Media Division stated that the apprehension was made together with the police, based on the information provided by the Army intelligence unit.
There, the police have taken custody of 1,570 kilograms of cannabis, reportedly intended for sale, and a locally-produced firearm.
The Sri Lanka Army also said the suspects had maintained a cannabis cultivation in a plot of land stretching across 4 ½ acres located in a hardly accessible area in Suhandiram Aru of Yala Forest Reserve.
Further investigations regarding the arrested suspects are being carried out by the Gonaganara Police, according to the army.
