Nearly 30 shops gutted in massive fire at Mawanella

At least 30 shops in the Mawanella town have been completely destroyed in a fire that broke out last night (28) in front of the main bus stand in Mawanella.

The police together with firefighters from the fire brigade of the Mawanella Pradehsiya Sabha and local residents had managed to extinguish the flames.

However, several shops selling fruits, textiles and plastic goods have reportedly been destroyed in the fire.

The cause of the fire has not been uncovered yet and the Mawanella Police are conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
