Police fire tear gas at protest near Kelaniya University

Police have fired tear gas and water cannons in an attempt to disperse a group of protesting students near the Kelaniya University.

Earlier, police reported that all traffic plying towards Kandy along the Colombo – Kandy main road was blocked due to a protest staged by students of the Kelaniya University.
