Special changes made to Coastal Line train schedule for Independence Day

The trains operating on the Coastal Line will not make stops at several major railway stations tomorrow (Feb. 04), the Department of Railways said.

Accordingly, the trains on the Coastal Line will not stop at the Bambalapitiya, Kollupitiya and Secretariat Railway Stations from 05.00 a.m. to 09.00 a.m. tomorrow.

The Department of Railways said that this decision was taken in order to ensure the safety of both local and foreign dignitaries participating in the Independence Day ceremony, as well as the armed forces and police personnel taking part in the parade.

The 76th National Independence Day celebrations will be held at Galle Face Green in Colombo tomorrow in a dignified manner presided over by President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. In the meantime, Prime Minister of Thailand Srettha Thavisin, is also scheduled to grace the event as the guest of honour, together with many other local and foreign delegations.
